https://www.cherrydogs.com is the test site. On the right sidebar you can see a featured content widget. When you click on a post you get a 404 error- the page does not exist. I know I’m missing something real basic in my understanding of this, but I’ve been working on this all morning with no luck. The page that contains the posts is https://www.cherrydogs.com/blog
I’m open to any other suggestions on the basic layout.
    Thanks,
    BJ

  • Hi BJ,

404 errors are usually related to Permalinks. Try changing your Permalinks to anything other than what you currently have and save the changes. Then change your Permalinks back to what you have them setup as now and save again. This should resolve that error.

Let me know if this fixes the issue.

Have you tried resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting via Settings -> Permalinks. If this works, then review Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

Thank you both. I reset to default settings and it all works. I guess it’s because I used %page% as my custom structure. That doesn’t work with posts I guess. Is there a structure word that would work on both pages and posts? I was hoping to a structure of https://www.domain.com/pagename without screwing up my post links.
    Thanks,
    BJ

Please see the page at the link I posted above.

I did read that through…even followed the links to other related articles. I don’t want to make this too complex and it looks like there no simple way to do it so I will stick with the WP default “ugly” structure.
    Thanks again.
    BJ
