    Hi,

Could someone point me in the direction of instructions on how to replace a text area with an image.

On my site, groundrootsmaintenance, I would like to replace the text on the right of the page with an image. The image would approximately be the same size as the photo on the left.

I have trawled the support forums but have only managed to mess things up so far.

    Many thanks.

  • As far as I can tell, the text is there because that’s what the content of the page is. If you don’t want it, just delete it. If you want an image there, just upload one of the right size and display it full size.

Thanks. Do you know where I would find instructions on how to do that?

I’m pretty new to this, and experimenting so far has only messed up my page.

How to do what? Delete the text? I take it you’re talking about the text that begins:

    ******SITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION*****

Just edit the page in Dashboard –> Pages –> Edit (for the page you want to edit).

If you want to upload an image to the content area, just use the editor to upload an image. It’s the first icon to the right of “Upload/insert” just above the editor’s toolbar.

    I understand basic text editing.

What I want to do is replace the code that creates the text area with an area that will display an image.

I’m looking for instructions on how to change the code to do this.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to just “upload/insert” an image in the text area as it’s not within a post. It’s in ‘theme options’ (part of the shell-lite theme).

What I need to find out is how to alter the parameter of the theme that creates text in that area.

    Any idea’s?

    Thanks

Ah right. I understand you now. I hadn’t realised that it was a part of the theme.

What you are asking for seems quite complex to me, because if I understand you correctly, you actually need to add some functionality to the theme’s administration/options facilities. That being the case, you might get a quicker and more informed response from the theme’s own support forum:

    https://themeid.com/forum/

If that’s not possible, let us know and I’ll download the theme and have a look at it on a test site: but I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to find out how to do what you’re after.

    Cheers

    Thanks Peredur.

I’ll take a look at that link and see if it throws anything up.

    Many thanks.
