Are adding tables to a page problematic for SEO?

    I am new to blogging and WordPress. I have started creating Pages, and realized I don’t see any option to add a table to the content from the UI. It is possible though adding a table from HTML code.

    <table width=”400″ border=”0″ cellspacing=”0″ cellpadding=”2″>

    </table>

    This is the only way I know of how to add text on the left side and adding a picture on the right side. But is there a better way to do that without using tables at all?

    I have read for the sake of SEO it is not a god idea using tables at all, since search engines can’t understand them.

    Would appeciate a professional advice on this,
