Uploading Themes Working Offline

    I just installed xampp and wordpress on my mac for the purpose of developing my website offline before launching it online. However, every time I try to upload a theme I get this message: “Unable to create directory /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

    Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong, please?
