• Hello!

MUCH help is needed because once again I’ve found myself seriously stuck in one situation.
    So I installed WP 3.2.1..
My PHP version is greater than 5.3, I have done nothing else but just freshly installed WP in FTP and I just can’t access wp-admin because it’s giving the internal 500 error:
    Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving https://unbelieva.com/wp-admin/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

It’s really sad because the site is just blankly up with the twentyeleven theme..

    HELP ME,
    Unbelieva.

  • Hello Unbelieva,

I was able to get to unbelieva.com/wp-admin with no trouble. Try refreshing your page and/or emptying your browser cache.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Unbelieva,

Typically, 500 errors are generic in nature. Does your host give you access to the error logs. If you look to see what actually caused the error.

When I load your wp-admin page. I dont get an error. Do you have plugins installed? If so, I’d rename the plugins folder to disable them. And start troubleshooting from there.

Let me know if you solve it!

Hi ChristiNi and Tim S and thank you for your quick responses!

I emptied the cache for the third time..still didn’t do the trick for me. The first time I emptied the cache I was able to see the wp-admin, but after trying to log in it gave me the internal 500 error again.

The error log’s last lines have been this:
[Tue Oct 11 20:18:26 2011] [error] [client 90.191.23.236] PHP Warning: Directive ‘magic_quotes_gpc’ is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0

Oh and I didn’t have any plugins installed.

    [No bumping, thank you.]

    Best regards,
    Unbelieva.

    Hi Unbelieva,

You may want to contact your host to see if they can find if Magic Quotes is enabled or not. Magic Quotes was a php function that has been removed from newer versions of PHP. You may want to look in your php.ini file and see if it is enabled. If its is then change the setting to “off” and see if that corrects the issue.

    I hope this helps!

    Tim S.
