• When I click on an event in the sidebar widget, the “Loading Event Form” hangs and never populates.

This does NOT occur when I access the site with Safari from my MacBook Pro. Then it works fine.

This problem DOES occur when I access the site with Firefox from the same MacBook. It also DOES occur when I access the site from several PCs using IE8 or Firefox.

My site is hosted on Windows 2003 server with IIS6. I am using theme Twenty Eleven.

I disabled my plugins and it still occurs. I don’t see any errors in Firebug — but I’m not a developer and I’m not sure what an error would look like.

I love this plugin, it looks like it would be the answer to my needs.

  • Post your URL so that others can access the site and confirm this issue. I have a feeling it could be a browser caching issue.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I can’t post the URL because it’s an intranet site behind a firewall.

Since writing the above post I discovered that this problem exists only when I initially load the front page — ie, if I go to another page on the site, it works properly, and then continues to work properly even if I return to the home page.

Please tell me you are familiar with this problem and know what I should do to fix it.

    Thanks.

Unfortunately, the symptoms you describe do not reveal the cause.
Since you are using the default Twenty Eleven theme we can rule out a theme conflict. I suggest following the FAQ troubleshooting guide of disabling all other plugins to see which plugin is causing the conflict with the calendar.

I have disabled all of the plugins and the problem persists.

Are you sure there aren’t any functional modifications to the Twenty Eleven Theme?

Without seeing the site it’s very difficult to diagnose. I don’t currently have the capacity to entertain hypothetical scenarios.

Let me know if you able to expose the site publicly.

Well, it’s not hypothetical to me — it actually doesn’t work. But I suppose you meant you don’t have time to try to recreate it in another environment, which is perfectly understandable. I was thinking that perhaps other users might have had a similar problem, or that you were aware that the plugin doesn’t function correctly under certain scenarios or setups similar to mine.

As for exposing the site, I really appreciate that you would be willing to look at it, but it contains some protected health care information that require confidentiality agreements so it’s not possible to do it casually.

Please let me know if you are aware of similar incidents that have been solved.

I apologize if that was unclear, hypothetical was intended in the context of causes of the issue, not that the issue is hypothetical.

I am not aware of other incidents…hence why I asked for a peek – but appreciate the issue of confidentiality.

If you have the desire despite not being a developer, I suggestion checking your debug.log for errors (if it exists it will be located in the wp-content folder).

I’m sorry I can’t be of more help, unfortunately, I don’t have much to go on.

I have a very similar issue. The event will display if I’m logged in as admin… but the event doesn’t display for non-logged-in visitors.

I’m sure it is a simple fix, I just don’t know where to look.

    Thanks

rcondron: I just checked and I see the events just fine on your site.
You may want to adjust your shortcode options, because if you look closely, you’ll notice that the calendar defaults to August 2010 and the filter defaults to deadline (for which there are no events listed). If you navigate to October and set the filter to “All” – the events appear as expected.

Read this for details on how to use the shortcodes:

    Hey Eran,

Thanks for the quick response… I actually just added the short code and everything started working… not sure if that was the issue or not, but it all seems to be good to go now.

    Thanks again!

I’m running 1.0, I’ve shut off all the plugins, and I’m getting this in the admin interface:

    https://fairwoodmartialarts.com/calbroken.jpg

The “Loading Event Form…” just stays there forever and the background remains dark. Also, when I mouse over the Cancel or Add button, the cursor changes, and when I press the UI shows them depressing, but nothing happens – I can’t add or edit, or even cancel.

I can click on the the default “Calender Installed” event in the admin interface and the event will open looking this same way, but the delete button doesn’t work, either.

I’ve tried deleting and re-installing the plugin, disabling all over plugins, and even going back to the previous version. It’s not theme-related, since it’s happening in the admin interface. The public view seems to work fine (https://fairwoodmartialarts.com/ and https://fairwoodmartialarts.com/calendar/) but I can’t add or edit any events! Any ideas?

Try refreshing your browser, sounds like a caching issue to me.

I wish it was that simple. But same issue persists after clearing cache, and I can replicate the issue by firing up a completely separate browser and loading the page – same issue with Chrome, IE9, and FF.

Did some more tinkering. It’s not a browser cache issue… but it IS a reverse proxy cache issue: CloudFlare.

This plugin breaks if a site uses CloudFlare (https://cloudflare.com). Which is a bummer, since CloudFlare is a great free service that speeds up and protects many of my WordPress blogs. Turning CloudFlare off for this domain fixes the problem, and turning it back on breaks it again. I’ve tried turning off all the Beta features inside CloudFlare, but even at the “lowest” setting, CloudFlare still breaks this plugin. ??

Eran: CloudFlare is free, so may I suggest that you try it out and see if you can figure out how to make future versions compatible? CloudFlare is growing like crazy, and even if I’m the first person to report this problem, I have a feeling I won’t be the last… ??

To properly consider user requests, all feature requests should be submitted to the issue tracker, detailing how the request will improve the plugin.
