WordPress needs ftp info for upgrade?

  • Hi. I am trying to upgrade a site from version 2.8.5 to current. From within the admin console, I clicked on upgrade and it gave me a screen asking for FTP login info. I supplied it but it said it was incorrect. I know it is correct, because I opened up filezilla and was able to connect using the exact same credentials. ideas?

  • Do not upgrade to 3.2.1 in a single step! You need to carry out a series of smaller upgrades: 2.8.5 -> 2.9 -> 3.0 -> 3.2.1

    So I should do it manually? I guess that would bypass the auto update ftp credential issue.

    Up to the last step, yes. You can also do the last one manually, if that helps.
