WordPress jQuery didn't work but repasted and it did work?

I’ve had a strange problem with wordpress’ version of jquery (1.6.1) in that it wasn’t working.

I checked that the file existed and all was fine. I disabled all the plugins, it made no difference.

In the end I made a copy of the page and then replaced the wordpress version with the same version from google apis to test jquery and it worked. So basically I took the wordpress jquery version in wp-includes and overwrote it with the version from google api’s. I’m not sure of the difference though.

Wondered if anyone else has seen this problem? I’ve definitely seen issues with previous versions before mentioned on the forums here. I’m concerned that when jquery is updated again on wordpress I’m going to end up with none of the jquery working again…
