How to change the URL back to original?

  • I just installed wordpress and I accidentally changed the two URLs in the settings page.

    The two URLs were previous:
    <my_ip>/wordpress

    I accidentally changed it to google.com (don’t ask :P)

    Anyway, now I’m locked out (I have root access to the webserver [Windows])

    Please don’t link me to that Codex article that claims to deal with this issue. I tried all of those options and none of them worked… =/

    Navigating to <my_ip>/wordpress shows me the page I created, but it has no theme and all links point to google. I can’t login because the login url is google.com/wp-login.php

    How can I change the URLs back to <my_ip>/wordpress?

    I already tried those options, none of them worked. It allowed me to get to the login page, but it wouldn’t allow me to login.

    I copied and pasted the correct password, but it just says something about ‘redirect’ in the URL.

    I also reset the password multiple times and it would not allow me to login. (no error message, just reloads the login page)

    THe instructions @esmi linked to are the only way.

    If you are unable to accomplish what you need by using the only available options, then yes, you would need to reinstall

    But I don’t understand why changing the URLs directly in the database would not work

    it just says something about ‘redirect’ in the URL.

    If you are logging in via https://domain.com/wp-login.php, it’s normal to see a redirected url in your address bar for the final login page. Ignoring the fact that you cannot login yet, is your site working again since you changed the site urls back?
