Custom sidebar per page?

Hello,

I was hoping someone may have some ideas on using a custom sidebar per page.

I’m familiar with the methods of modifying the theme’s PHP code to check the page and display a different sidebar, but I was hoping for something more dynamic.

The site I’m trying to deploy will have hundreds of users (it’s a school district website) and each teacher will have their own mini page (not a full-out blog). I was hoping I could allow them to change their own sidebar with, for example, their photo and information specific to them.

I could create a template page for every user with custom HTML to create a sidebar, but that sounds like it’d lead to some trouble (person accidentally deletes the sidebar markup, etc).

Any ideas for something like this? Thanks!
