Update is out today; I do not know what the issue with the RSS feed is, as I have not been able to reproduce this problem.

Question: did you re-save your permalink settings after enabling the RSS feed? If not, can you try that, and let me know if you’re able to use the RSS feed afterwards?

@joe – tried that. it still doesn’t work. Calendar page is here: https://accesscommunitylink.org/events/ Maybe you can tell by looking at the page. Thanks.

That link seems to work fine to me — can you describe the problem for me? Is it that you get a 404 error, or some other problem? If it’s a 404, have you tried clearing your browser cache?

When I and others select Subscribe to RSS we get Internet Explorer cannot display this feed. This feed contains code errors.

The address the feed shows is https://accesscommunitylink.org/feed/my-calendar-rss

I do not get a 404 error and I have tried clearing my browser cache. This is the only piece of My Calendar that we are still having issues with but unfortuneately it is an important one for us. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did a little more research – for some reason the rss feed errors out because of the encoding, but I’m using the default UTF-8 wordpress encoding and have not changed anything in the My Calendar rss.php file. Every piece of punctuation is throwing out an error. Ideas?

Interesting. I’m looking at the info, and it’s not every piece of punctuation – just certain invalid characters, mostly apostrophes. Did you cut and paste any content from Microsoft Word, by any chance? It’s possible that these are “smart quotes” which don’t convert well.

It’s interesting because it’s not every apostrophe, just occasional apostrophes. The apostrophe in ‘Beavan’s book, No Impact Man’ is showing as invalid; but not the apostrophe in ‘will sell copies of Colin Beavan’s book following his talk’. Do those apostrophes appear differently when you view the event in the editor?

Thanks for checking on this. The punctuation appears as good text in the editor. I think some of these were copied from word documents but I tried to re-enter them by copying the event details into word, clear all formating, and then replace the event text in My Calendar. It didn’t work. I also tried to go in to the event details, html editor, and correct it there by removing any stray code and adding paragraph code. It either ran everything together as one long text stream or didn’t fix the text issues.
Should I instruct everyone that they cannot copy text from word – or is there a better way to do this? Some users are going to have numerous events and will not re-type every bit of text. I want to make it easy enough that they will use it. I really appreciate your thoughts on this. I still love this plug in and want to make it work for us.
