default theme and thenty ten them

Hi there
I used in the past the twenty ten theme and as this it use to be the default theme I have been told to use a child theme to avoid any overwritten.
now my question is :
as the new theme is twenty eleven, do I still have to create a child theme when using the twenty ten ?
