• Hi WordPress Forums,

I work for a student newspaper. For the last few weeks we have been developing a new website using WordPress, and we’ve had it on its own server and with a different domain than our primary website.

Now it is time to make this new website go live. I’ve looked over the WP Codex instructions, and it appears all I have to do is upload the new website to the primary server, change the folder to make it reflect the new domain, and change the stuff in wp-config.php to reflect the new domain. Is that it? Or is there more to it?

  • what about the database?

Download a copy of the main wordpress files from your OLD blog to your hard drive and edit wp-config.php to suit the new server.
Go back to your OLD blog and go to Administration > Settings > General and change the url (both of them) to that of your new site.
Again, download your database (but keep the old one just in case), upload this new database and the copy of the wordpress core files with the edited wp-config.php to your new server. Thats it!
