Using WordPress for a Car Dealership site

  • I’m having immense difficulty finding any information on creating an actually decent car dealership website using WordPress, Drupal, or any other free website platform and I’m in desperate need of help.

    I would like to keep my costs to a minimum. I already have a company that creates a feed of my car inventory that is live and viewable on our current site, cars.com, autotrader.com and other sites.

    I would like to create a wordpress site that I can just import that feed directly to it, but I DO NOT want to use the CarPort app. I can’t believe they charge $1000 a month to use it. Insanity!

    Any help is appreciated. If there’s a better way to go about doing something like this, please inform me. It seems as though the car industry’s online presence is so backwards and convoluted. It’s so hard to get any information on developing something like this.

  • Most of the car dealerships plugin is pretty simple and not supported and you are smart about not biting into those over priced crap scripts.

    New Owl Studios has been working on a Dealership Theme or WordPress that allows a the admin to host a dealership for using WordPress. I also have a Car dealership script that I need to get out of the archives and the clean up. It is fully working but just needs some love.

    Hey Justin, do you have any update on your theme? I’m also looking for a legit framework that I can import my vehicle feed into. I can’t believe noone has made one yet for WP??? I think dealers would jump all over it. I use iol Homenet to push my feed out over the internet. Paying gobs of money for my current templated website….ready for a change.
