New installation of NextGen from the WordPress plugin library as of 08/27/2011.

Uploading set of pics to first Gallery. Image upload completes, but thumbnail generation only gives an empty status dialog. The resulting set of images have no thumbnails. Try to generate new ones through the Manage Galleries admin page (select all images, bulk action – create new thumbnails. This time it gives a progress bar that completes, but there’s still no thumbnails after complete.

Select Edit Thumbnail on an individual image and get the following error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1051 bytes) in /…../wordpress/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/lib/gd.thumbnail.inc.php on line 943

    Any ideas?

  • Ditto here… I get the same error message. I’ve deleted the gallery, recreated the gallery, gone into file manager and deleted out any remaining pics, then executed another upload. Same memory allocation error…

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 69468160) (tried to allocate 6420 bytes) in /home/normsim/public_html/sashphotography.com/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/lib/gd.thumbnail.inc.php on line 943

So far I haven’t figured out any work-around.

I sent the error message over to my host provider (hostgator) based on some comments that I’ve seen on other forums. It seems like I was running into a wall with the hosting package that I have. It allows for a maximum 64MB memory allocation. I have to upgrade my hosting package to get more memory allocation.

I haven’t run into this problem with other plugins that I’m using on multiple domains. So maybe Nextgen is somewhat of a memory hog???? I don’t know… I can’t make that claim, just going by the experience I’ve had.
