Another menu naming question…
-
Like many others, I’m trying to figure out how to rename my permalinks. As I understand it, it should be as easy as using the /%postname%/ permalink naming convention and then changing a page’s slug accordingly. However, this doesn’t seem to be working, and I’m wondering why.
For example, I have an “about us” page on my site which of course defaults to the name myurl.com/?page_id=16. Obviously, I want this to read “myurl.com/about-us” for SEO purposes, amongst others, so I…
1. changed the slug of the about us page to “about-us”;
2. changed the permalinks setting to “custom” with “/%postname%/” in the field;
3. verified that the permalink has been set to “myurl.com/about-us” in the about us page edit section.Now when I click on the link for “about us,” the browser tries to go to myurl.com/about-us but I get a “not found” error. As far as I can tell I’ve done everything correctly – can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated…
