• Upon loading 3.2.1 I noticed that the visual editor is gone when I add a new page or edit an existing page. In “users” I made sure the “disable the visual editor” box is not checked. There is no colon in the URL, as some others have experienced. I have disabled all plugins and reloaded 3.2.1, but it still won’t work. Is there a known solution to this problem or an update with a remedy coming soon? I prefer to write my initial posts in visual. Thanks.

  • Have you tried:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

Are you using the pre-2.7 WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin?

    If so

    1. Deactivate (and preferably remove) that plugin.
    2. Go to the Dashboard->Updates option in the menu.
    3. On this new page, select to Re-install WordPress 3.2.1. It’ll spin
a minute and redownload WordPress and install it over itself properly,
fixing any missing or broken files.
    4. Clear your browser cache. Your browser will have a copy of the bad
Javascript files in memory, and until you clear them out, it won’t try
to load them from the site again.
    5. Done.

Has anyone found a fix for this? I have taken over the running of a WordPress website so am still learning about it but I am not sure if I can switch themes as *I think* the theme is a custom one?

Have no automatic upgrade plugin installed and have reinstalled 3.2.1 three times with no success.

Any help us much appreciated, thanks.

    Hello folks,

I’m having a similar problem with WP 3.2.1
I cannot see any text in the Visual Editor.

When trying to edit a page, I highlight the allegedly empty space, then the page text is revealed / highighted, but showing as HTML code.

Has anyone found a solution please?

I’ve tried the various solutions I’ve read about on the forum.
    (Cleared cache; etc.)
Sounds more of a server-based rather than PC-based problem?

Hope someone can help please ??

    Many thanks in advance.

JETPACK was the problem for me. After I installed 3.2.1 was when the problem began and after running through all of my plugins I also noticed that the wp-admin formatting for the Jetpack plugin was messed up. After disabling the editor came back. Bummed because Jetpack is such a good plugin however if you can’t figure out what it is and you have Jetpack installed this could be the key.

    Hi everyone,

Running some WordPress sites, I recently started to update to 3.2.1. One of the installations is on a different host, and I’m having the exact problem described by DCL:

    – Visual Editor shows a white box. If you highlight content, you can see plain HTML code.
    – In adition, I can’t switch to HTML editor, nor display the upper menus (Screen options, Help…).

Cleared cache. No plugins. Tryied with “vanilla”(unmodified) theme. Tried with firefox 6.0.2 and Chrome 13.0.782.220. Same thing.

Interestingly enough, I don’t have the same problem on other WordPress 3.2.1 I have on other host.

Soooo… Seems like a host specific problem (maybe PHP version).

A workaround would be really useful.

Update: problem reproduced in other hostings. Solved on the first one after contacting hosting provider, will try to update on the solution as soon as I find out.
