• First off, I’m using GoDaddy as my web hosting provider and they offer 1-click installation for wordpress blog. This morning I decided to reinstall my wordpress blog due to some problem that occurred. I selected “uninstall” wordpress but kept all the database files. After re-installing wordpress to that domain, the themes and plugins are still there, but my posts, comments, and site info are all missing. How can I properly restore my blog since I believe I did not delete these files?

  • You can restore your back up database by going into database and using phpmyadmin.
once in database click check all at bottom
beside that at bottom you see drop down menu select drop and press Go

This will drop all your tables that were created when you reinstalled.

Now click on import and browse find the .sql file you backed up and click open

and press Go this take few minutes depending on how big is your back up

once uploaded I am assuming that your domain name is same then try and open you website.

Forgot to mention since you reinstalled wordpress you will need to replace wp-content folder from your back up if you have one

    @ Shpint,

Did you install your new blog using fantastico?

Would you be interested in preventing this from ever happening again, using a proven method that takes less than 3 minutes to setup?

    Talk soon,
    Ricky
