• I was running an older version of wordpress in one of my blogs but after upgrading to a newer version i can’t access it anymore. I have tried manual installation using manual installation help on this forum but nothing works, instead i get the following message:
    “Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down”

My hosting company is bluehost and the url of my site is: https://www.pregnancygender.org

Anyone with ideas on how to fix this problem? … i have searched this forum for help but i could find the right one

  • You should download the file wp-config.php from the root of your site and confirm the database name, username and password are correct. If you don’t know the database username/password, you may need to use the control panel at bluehost to update the password for the database user, then update the settings in the wp-config.php file.
