I am brand new to WordPress and am trying to install it through my Yahoo hosting plan. I’ve used Yahoo hosting for another site for several years and have been fairly happy with it.

In the five or so hours I’ve so far spent trying to get things working, I’ve encountered the following problems dozens of times each:

    – widgets not updating correctly
    – WP doesn’t seem to recognize my login name
    – main site just doesn’t load at all
    – admin login doesn’t work at all
    – really long time getting site or user options to load, with timeouts

I thought that WordPress was good for people like me, who have some tech knowledge but don’t know the intricate details of coding or web design. Right now I can’t even access the settings of my site — no access whatsoever. I’m kind of at the end of my rope, and disappointed because I know WP has lots of cool stuff and if I could get it working would be great for my site.

My first question is, can someone help me actually access my site?
My second is, is this worth it?

    Thanks so much!

  • WordPress is easy to install. Just follow the instructions.

If you think you have done every thing correctly, then please write the steps you did here. So that some one can point to the mistake you have done!

Hi andybrodsky1. I’ve spent hours myself trying to troubleshoot an issue, and I understand where you’re coming from. You’ve listed quite a few issues, and I find it is generally best to focus on one, and work your way through the rest of the list.

The most important issue may be the fact that you cannot access your site. I’d like to test it out, see if there are any errors, etc. Can you respond back with more information, such as what your domain name is and and what the specific error messages are that you’re receiving?
