Can't login – after moving blog to new host and new url

Review Moving_WordPress in case you missed an important step during the move.

Any idea what I might have missed? I read all the directions but I am not saying I didn’t miss something! Just have no idea what it is.

I moved the blog to my local drive first to see if I could do it because it looked scary. It works locally but once I moved to InMotion this issue came up.

Is there anything in the site’s error logs?

i don’t see anything

I’ve also tried to add a new user but I have the same issue….the password isn’t being recognized although the username is.

Try repairing your database and re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

thanks very much for your help esmi. I ended up hard coding the url and home to the wp-config file and that worked. might be a hack but next time I pay someone to do this.

Basically that means your database didn’t get changed. You should do a search in the DB for the old URL.

I am scared to do this. I’ve done the search and see there are many instances of the old domain in the database. I know that there are scripts to do this task but I have not done this before. Is there any tips or easy solutions for me so I don’t ruin the database? thanks for your help
