• Hi
I am using WP 3.2.1 with Twenty Ten Child Theme. I have customised Twenty Ten through creating child theme for style sheet, single post, header and footer sections. Do I lost my customisations if I update to Tweety Eleven? Do I need to created child theme again for Twenty Eleven? pls help.
    Thanks and Regards.

it’s not an update per se – you are changing themes.
and in this process, of course, you are loosing the customisations.

yes – you will need to create a child theme for twenty eleven, as well.

    Hi alchymyth,
    Thanks for the response.

it’s not an update per se – you are changing themes.

    Then why Dashboard is displaying:
    Twenty Eleven
You have version 1.1 installed. Update to 1.2.

    It is somewhat confusing.
I have customised 2010 through child theme. Then how do I lost them if I update to 2011? Why 2010 child theme do not work if I update to 2011?
    pls clarify.

    Hi alchymyth,
I have solved the issue. I thought it was an update to 2010. I have confused because it is showing in ‘update’ section of the dashboard. I have gone to appearance>themes and deleted the 2011 theme and the ‘update’ indication has gone. I want to continue with 2010 as there are lot of customisations. Thanks for your time.
    cheers.

Twentyeleven theme will not overwrite anything on your twentyten parent or child. You should have it installed as it is the default theme for WP 3.2.1, having it installed does not mean you have to activate and use it.
