Managing Blog Post Subscriptions
-
A friend, who is very new to website administration, is having some trouble with managing blog post subscriptions, and I’m trying to help him with it (without having access to his dashboard).
If someone leaves a comment and subscribes to the post, they will receive an email notification whenever there is activity on that page. At the bottom of each email notification there is a link provided for managing subscriptions.
The URL of that link is very long, and you might think it would open a special page for managing subscriptions. But, instead, it resolves to the blog’s home page, with no further activity. If we click a ‘Manage Subscription’ link within the website (like the ‘Subscribe’ checkbox below this text field), it opens a page that requests the user’s email address and, upon submitting the email address, the user will then receive an email containing a link to manage the subscriptions.
And this brings us back to where we started. There is either no such page configured to manage users’ subscriptions, or the wrong link is being provided. Thus, once someone subscribes to a page, there is no way to unsubscribe.
Again, not having access to my friend’s WordPress dashboard, I can’t suggest where he might look. And I realize anyone reading this would be at a similar disadvantage, but can anyone suggest anything at all?
Thanks so much.
