This isn’t a question about any particular theme. But in my adventures with exploring various themes and their pros and cons, I’ve run across many that have big, black navigation tabs, and IMO that’s kind of a masculine look. My site should look feminine and many’s the time I’ve turned my nose up at themes that have those big, black navigation tabs. I’ve looked thru CSS files but can’t find the well-kept secret of where to find the code, which ought to be simple to alter. Is there a ‘rule of thumb’ for digging out such codes?

  • Most of the styles will be in style.css, or in other CSS files included with the theme. I use Firebug, which is an add-on for Firefox to identify the HTML elements whose styles you want to change, and then add the new styles to your style files.

    Hope that helps!

Well, I emailed the theme’s author and he graciously advised how to place a code into the custom css Settings box. I never would have guessed…! and I wouldn’t have had a clue what to do either.

So now I’m getting lots of nice colors but still working on getting completely rid of the black…it’ll happen… ??
