Background Color site title blog info

  • I am looking/wanting to change the background color of the top of the header behind my site title & site description. I think in the header.php file I need to add a <div id> to a section so I can style it separately, but can’t figure out where to make this happen. Can someone help?

    Also, I may decide to have the header image to disappear when navigating to interior pages. Thus, I only would want the header image (between the site title, blog description, and menu) to show on the home page. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
