I’m currently running WP 2.9.2 on a server with PHP 4.4.8 and MySQL 4.1.22. Before upgrading to WP 3.2, I understand I would first have to upgrade to PHP 5.2.4 and MySQL 5.0.

    Here are my 2 questions:
    1) Does WP 2.9.2 still run and match system requirements with PHP 5.2.4 and MySQL 5.0? I tried looking for the old system requirements for 2.9.2, but what I found was unclear.

    2) Assuming the above is ok, and the PHP & MySQL upgrades are seamless, can I then upgrade directly from 2.9.2 to 3.2, or do I have to go 3.0 first and then upgrade?

Any advice anyone can provide would be most welcome. This will be my first major upgrade, so want it to be seamless.

    Thanks!

  • 1) Yes, though some plugins might not work as some require php 5.2.14 and up

    2) you can upgrade directly to the newest by deactivating all plugins and switching to default theme

    Thanks, Samuel,

The whole upgrade went very well. That blog now has the latest and greatest.

Oddly enough, it’s a WP blog v 3.1.3 on the same server that’s having the stalling problem in the automatic upgrade. But I will search for answers and post that problem under a new topic.

    Thanks again!
