I have two WP installations, both at their 3.2 version. I want to migrate posts from one to the other. I use the ‘Import’ and ‘Export’ tool under ‘Tools’ menu. And the process went fairly well, EXCEPT, nothing other than the post contents are imported. The tags got imported, but not associated with any post.
Any ideas on how I can get the tags and categories synced up?

    Regards,
    Angela

Oh, just FYI, I use a multi-language plugin, but I only have posts in English. Somehow, during the import process, not only did the importer strip out all the categories, tags, and comments, the importer thinks it’s smart enough to make the page bilingual without any bilingual content!

    Anyone?

I also tried with some other importer tools, NONE of them works. This is native WP to WP transfer, how can it go so wrong. Both of the WP installations are in the same version, so why doesn’t the “built-in” plugins work?

And even if it did work, for the only time I have succeeded, everything was separated. I mean, I got the posts, pages, tags, categories, and comments, but they are all un-attached and not associated with each other. Can anyone explain what’s going on here?

The strangest thing I find in WP is that there are export plugins and import plugins, but they don’t work in pairs. I’m just wondering, how am I suppose to import something if the importer and exporter plugins use different formats?

    Regards,
    Angela
