no formatting as widget

  • I updated from 1.7.3 to 2.0.0, which was a mistake. There is no formatting applied to the widget when used in wordpress 3.1.4.

    I went to look for the old version of the plugin, but they were no longer available. This is the first time I’ve seen a developer actually take down older versions of their plugin.

    Is there a download available of 1.7.3 until the issues in 2.x.x are addressed?

    In the default 2010 theme, no styling is applied like with other widgets

    The title and the listed items lack the styling that is applied to other widgets.

    After enabling debugging in wp-config.php, this error appeared:

    I’ve updated the plugin, version 2.0.1 will be available shorty. In 2.0.0 there was an error in the Widget display, it’s a minor fix but should help you with formatting.

    The bullets now appear, however, the title of the widget does not match other widgets.

    I noticed that it uses an H4 tag, while other widgets use an H3 tag.

    It would be an easy fix to bring it to H3 instead but with 120,000 downloads I can’t make the change today without affecting countless blogs negatively. However, you can adjust the CSS for your blog to accommodate the H4/H3 titles using your CSS file, I appreciate the standard for titles is now H3 but when the plugin was written there was no standard defined for widgets titles and as a result, this plugin was given an H4 instead.

    I understand that now that the plugin is out in the wild, it can be a chore to make changes and accommodations without causing an uproar.

    However, on another blog I have, which is also running the default, unaltered Twenty Ten wordpress theme, I still have version 1.7.1 of your plugin running. It appears to be using H3 tags.

    It looks like the change happened between 1.7 and 2.0. It doesn’t look like it was H4 all along, but only changed to H4 when 2.0 was released.

    Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have noticed a difference.
