    Hi people ??
I’ve been playing with WP for a while running locally on my PC and been getting on well. Today I decided to make the move to the web.

I set up a basic site using MS WebMAtrix and MS Expression Web 4…. all ok

Next I used Expression Web’s inbuilt FTP to transfer to a sub folder called wordpress on my server. Next I modified the wp-config.php to connect to my database…. all ok

The site appears, but any login attempt redirects me to
    https://www.mysite.co.uk/https://mysite.co.uk/wordpress/wp-login.php resulting in a 404 error

I can get to my non wordpress home page with or without www. both work however the wordpress first page only shows without the www.

    It’s now nearly 11pm and I’m googled out ??

    Any ideas?

  • Howdy,

You may want to have a look in your database on the remote host and edit the siteurl in the wp_options table. If you didn’t change this in your local version before exporting it, then it is still set to what it was there ??

Via you hosting control panel, get to phpMyAdmin; click on the database (DB) name in the left pane to expand it; click on the w_options in the left pane; in the right pane, click the Browse tab; click the Edit icon for the siteurl row; change the value to your domain name and then click the “Go” button (lower right) to save the changes.

    Cheers!

    Hi Lyle,
I should have said, I checked both the siteurl and home settings.
I tried https://www.mysite.co.uk/wordpress and just mysite.co.uk/wordpress both with the same result ??

    Thanks for answering though buddy!
