My whole site went down after adding the user agent groups to w3.

I tried removing wptouch, w3 total cache, removing w3 lines form htaccess, still no luck.

Site is still down….. I have no idea how to get it back up from here. Please help!

  • Removing by deleting the folders of the Plugins ?

If so, then you need also remove the following files:

    advanced-cache.php
    db.php
    object-cache.php

All files are in the wp-content directory of your site. If you did not deactivate W3-Total-Cache, these files are still in place i think!

Thanks for the quick reply but I also deleted those files…

Still having the 500 error ??

Can you check your error_log or php error log on your server where things are going wrong. Probably it is not related to W3-Total-Cache anymore.

I recommend deleting the W3TC rules from your .htaccess file and even restoring the default settings if re-adding the .htacccess rules (after deleting them you should be prompted to add them) doesn’t work.

I’ve done all of the above (except changin the .htacces rules, since I can’t find it) and my site is still down with the 500 internal server error! Even other sites in my subfolders are also down now!

    What should I do?

Since it seems like a lot of the time, when I look for help on here, the threads leave you hanging on whether or not a problem actually got resolved, I wanted to confirm that deleting the W3TC rules from the .htaccess file WORKS.

I did the same thing, adding user agent groups to W3TC and gave myself the 500 Internal Server Error. I also tried deleting the folders for wptouch and W3TC on the backend, and it didn’t work. So I put everything back and ONLY removed the lines in the .htaccess file.

    Worked like a charm!

Now I just have to go clean up my mess.
