• When trying to go to /wp-admin – I’m just getting a white screen. Manually udpated to 3.2 (from 3.1.4) but still got the same problem. Site seems to be working fine but I can’t access admin at all.

Can anyone help? I tried adding a post about this – but when I tried to add to it, it stated the post was closed??

Site is at https://www.phuturelabs.com incase that’s of any use.

  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php.

Ok thanks – I’ve tried reuploading all folders apart from content and tried disabling all plugins so guess it’s the theme next!

Will I be able to get that theme back though afterwards as I’ve made a huge amount of modifications to it. Probably a dumb question.

Ok dokey tried renaming current theme’s folder – and then site just went to the white screen. Not having much luck ??

Do you have unedited copies of the Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven themes in your themes folder?

    Thread Starter paulreset

    (@paulreset)

Yup – unedited versions of both. Tried uploading totally fresh versions just incase and renaming my current theme. Same thing – just turns the site into the white screen as well as the admin page.

Did you re-run the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php whilst all plugins were deactivated and your old theme folder was renamed?

    Thread Starter paulreset

    (@paulreset)

Tried that – but when I go to wp-admin/upgrade.php I just get the white screen though – it won’t auto upgrade. I manually upgraded the admin, includes etc but still nothing ??

Sorry to be a pain. This has me tearing my hair out.

What versions of MySQL & PHP are you using?

    Thread Starter paulreset

    (@paulreset)

I’m not entirely sure – I’m using Dreamhosts though and they’re down as one of the “approved” hosts for the latest version of WordPress.

I’ll have a look in the Dreamhost panel and see if I can find out.

    Thread Starter paulreset

    (@paulreset)

I emailed dreamhost support to ask.
Thing is though – I hadn’t updated WordPress and it was running fine last night – I could access admin panel etc no probs. Not sure what’s changed from now until now as I haven’t changed anything.

The last Dreamhost user I helped today was only running PHP 5.2. Is there an upgrade to PHP 5.3 option?

    Thread Starter paulreset

    (@paulreset)

Ah checked and I was 5.2!
Upgraded to 5.3 though and problem remains – tried clearing browser cache incase it was cache’d but to no avail ??

    Sorry again!

    Thread Starter paulreset

    (@paulreset)

Checked MySQL version and it’s higher than 5.0 also.

Have you re-run the upgrade manually since moving to PHP 5.3?

    Thread Starter paulreset

    (@paulreset)

I can’t get the upgrade to run at all – but have tried reuploading all the 3.2 files (wp-admin, wp-includes etc) and still getting the white screen. Should I maybe try and upload files from an old WP version?

Thanks so much for all your help on this – sorry if this is causing you any hassle!
