    Hi,

I am trying to make a static front page https://www.emmastangl.com and looked at the instructions to do so in the Codex.

Step 3 says to enable Permalinks.

I looked up the instructions for Permalinks and it sounds really complicated (I don’t know coding)

…so I thought I would see if there were plugins for that. There are, and I downloaded Permalink Editor.

Where on the dashboard do I access it to use it? (Also, is there an instruction page for this plugin somewhere that I don’t know about?

Sure enough, currently the links to my pages are things like “?page_id=9” and I want to change that.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

I’m not 100% sure that you necessarily needed to download this plugin to simply update your permalink settings, as it seems what you are looking to do may be part of the default functionality of WordPress.

You should probably take a look at the Using Permalinks guide, which should be of use to you.

The Permalink Editor Plugin is used to extend the default functionality shown on the Permalinks page.

    Hope this helps.

I am not 100% sure either! I read that Using Permalinks guide, and this is the one that gave me the impression that I had to download a plugin or change the coding or something complicated….

However, I just went in and changed the settings under permalinks to “Month and name” and that did the trick.

    thanks,
    Emma
