How to place a html banner at the end of my new post

I am trying to edit my new post with html banner code. I switched the html editor on and placed my code at the end of my post but nothing showed up when I tested it. I did try and upload the image in media but when I click it does not redirect. Is there a way to place a click-able banner in a post that will redirect to a affiliate site?
