wordpress email not working in my VPS?

  • Hi everyone,

    I have a problem. I have VPS running on Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS 64 bits. I setup wordpress in this environment. All works fine. Then I add in any contact forms plugin into wordpress. When I click on send, it shows successfully. But I never receive the email from my side.

    However I used the same approach on my other wordpress site setup at Hostgator CPanel and Fastastico. It works properly.

    Wonder what is the cause of the problem?

    FYI, my current server mail.domain.com is pointing to GMAIL. I also setup another postfix server at my ubuntu VPS with pmail.domain.com. It is working fine, tested with telnet.

    Is it because wordpress by default goes to mail.domain.com and finds that mail.domain.com is not within the ubuntu VPS server?

    Or is there any configuration that i need to do to make this work? say point to pmail.domain.com instead of mail.domain.com?

    or is it something else I miss out?

  • Sounds like you are trying to use SMTP at gmail for outgoing mail. You need to use a plugin. Search for SMTP in the plugins. Used to be one called WP SMTP Mail or similar that worked well.
