• I am trying to install WordPress. Actually I had attempted WordPress a year ago and I believe it was successful but did not end up using it. So now I am trying again installing from the beginning with the most recent version. I am trying to install it in a blog folder (domainname.com/blog). First I deleted ALL files that were previously installed. I deleted and recreated my MySQL database as well as the username. I have downloaded WP 3.1.3, unzipped, edited the needed files with my database information and uploaded to my blog folder. I try to access teh install.php and I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function setup_userdata() in C:…\pluggable.php on line 35

I have downloaded another new copy of 3.1.3 and tried again. Same error. Am I doing something wrong in trying to reinstall once I had an older version installed? Is there something else that I need to remove in order to install from the beginning?

Which version are you trying to update?

I did have version 2.9.2 installed a year ago but never used it. Now I am ready to use it and decided to start over with the newest version. I wanted to do a clean install again rather than try to update. So I deleted all files and database, copied WP 3.1.3, unzipped, edited files, copied to website directory and attempted to access wp-admin/install.php to finish the install. Then I receive the above error.

have you tried contacting your hosting provider if the if they have any problem at their end, if there are any limitations/restrictions …

Yes but they were of no help. ?? I’m thinking of switching hosting companies. Now may be a good time.

    Let me ask this…

It occurred to me last night that we have two separate domain names. Domain #1 is the one I am trying to install 3.1.3 and having errors. Domain #2 we don’t really use but I also installed wordpress 2.9.2 a year ago. We have two separate databases and usernames set up for these 2 domains – trying to keep them separate. Could an issue be caused by still having 2.9.2 on Domain #2 and trying to install 3.1.3 on Domain#1?
