Is there more to gzip than simply 'enabling' it?

    Does enabling gzip in W3TC do everything needed, or is there some gzip plug-in or other setting that needs my attention?

    I am quite new at this. I am using WP 3.1.3, W3 Total Cache 0.9.2.3, WordPress SEO 0.4.2, on a Windows 7 x64 machine and have shared hosting using Linux/Apache.
