Removing Search Cap

Is there a “virtual cap” on the number search entries returned? Is there any chance this can be removed. I don’t want to get into using Google vs bbpress search, or using google as an alternative – One search engine is enough thanks.

It would be very nice to have some search return where the number of returns can be limited by either the user, or no limit set. I may get ten related entries, but entry number 11 may be the one I need. Perhaps pagination of tens of search results?
