installed blog but cannot get into admin or blog page

  • I decided to use my website host’s installation for WordPress, and it put it into the correct folder, and sent me details of the database and password etc, all of which I’ve checked and are correct.

    BUT, using both the confirmation email link and manually, I can’t get the browser to load anything.

    The admin login box comes up, but nothing at all happens when I try to log in. Plus, trying to look at the blog using the given link (https://www.belper-research.com/blog) results in an error message that the redirection cannot be completed.

    I have checked the settings.php and they seem all correct. I wonder if the folder link is incorrect but there seems nowhere to put an absolute link to the blog folder.

    Can anyone help?

  • seems as if your wordpress is not installed properly how did you install wordpress as when i go the url I get this on FF

    The page isn’t redirecting properly
    Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
    This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
    cookies.

    Check with your host see if they can help you.

    I’ve just been browsing around the WordPress help files and, going on the hunch that the blog wasn’t directing to the correct web address, I found out how to get into the database and change it. Wohoo.

    It was a hunch that paid off, because just adding WWW to the address seems to have solved the problem. I can now log into admin AND see the new blog.

    I think what happened was my web address gets the WWW added when anybody types the address into a browser, but WordPress didn’t know how to do that, so it stalled. Hard-writing it into the dfatabase has allowed me into admin at least so perhaps I can correct the settings there also.
