Installation problem, PHP, MYSQL on local machine

I use XP Home and xampp very successfully so if this gets too much, stop IIS and go get xampp.

I do that as u said. On xp box it didn’t run, and I got following messege: “The Page Cannot Be Displayed”.
But it respond correctly on W2K box. But because of my poor knwoledge on PHP, I dont know what it means. The displayed page contains the following information:

So what I had to do now?

Hey great people. I KNOW this must be a boring topic for every one but too the poor people like myself that are haveing the same prolblems as taysay.

I know that msSQL is operating properly. I connect to it with the mySQL Administraotr (from mySQL.com) PHP give me my info.php page Just great.

AND I KNOW my wp-config.php is accurate.

So WHAT the heck.

Should I change the php.ini file to read:
mysql.default_host = localhost?

Still not doing the trick.

Yes, I am also having the same problem here. ANY help would me much appriciated. Same criteria as above. MySql is talking with PHP.
Everything is “fine” except for the problem of connecting to the database. I am running win server 2003, with MySql and PHP on the same computer. Everything is accurate. My circumstances are almost, if not exact to johnfallen.

This dosnt solve the issue. I did turn off IIS, installed xampp, configed the new instance of mySQL, and BAM. WP working great.

I DID NOT WANT TO USE Apache (nothing against it, just wanted to use ColdFusion and WP togeather under IIS), but after reading the problems with permalinking and all the likes, in the very informative articles listed above, i decided, heck with IIS 6. I just want WP running for my boss (how much of our world is getting things done for the boss?).

I, too, had the standard MySQL not found error message, as quoted above. Turns out I DID have to replace “localhost” with the actual location of the MySQL server. Then installation worked like a charm!

Hi guys…i have apache 2 , PHP 5.0.3, and MySQL Server 4.1 running on my WinXp professional machine..

THe problem is it doesnt give any errors..i installed WP succesfully..but when i write new pages and try to see them using my browser it directs to my wordpress directory root where i can really see the files !!! This shouldnt be happening and also i tried to change the URI location from https://localhost/wordpress to https://localhost/wordpress/index.php and the main homepage just appeared with the text but with NO graphics..can somebody please help me on this..im really stuck..

When i installed WordPressafter it gives the user name and a password … its says to logging and after i submit the username and the password…it takes me to the root where WP resides on my machine..there i can see all my files…but actually it should take me to the wp-edit.php isnt it.! please help
