    Hi,

I’m very new to wordpress and have a question regarding themes and or posts (I’m not entirely sure where this question belongs). I am using the pixel theme. I wanted to create a post without the sidebar. I noticed that I can do so with a Page but not a regular Post. Is this a limitation of the theme or of wordpress? I hope I am making sense….

  • Generally, Themes do not have custom templates for Posts. The templating system is generally set up only to support custom templates for static Pages.

It is possible for Themes to implement custom per-post templates, but it is non-trivial to implement; it would require adding a custom metabox, store custom metadata, and change the layout/style/output based on those custom data.

The vast majority of Themes don’t support this functionality.

    Thank you Chip ??

Ok so let me spin another question. The reason I wanted this particular item to be a post rather than a page is that the comment system is not integrated onto Pages. I am assuming this is yet another Theme issue. Is there an easy (and by easy I mean so simple even a caveman could do it) way to put the comment functionality onto Pages?

This is no longer an issue as I have changed to a theme which meets my needs somewhat better. ??
