can't insert gallery, plugin abandoned?

plugin is abandoned far as I can see – the link to the plugin developers homepage is abandoned, and google code page has absolutely zero useful information about the project.

plug also doesn’t work – I have added a number of images to a gallery, but when I try to insert the gallery into a post / page, nothing happens, and no shortcode is written into the page.

sigh. wish there was a working S3 slider plugin out there that actually did what it said it was going to…
