"Edit" does not show in IE9 "Edit" FF problem considering images

    Hey,

    First of all: thank you for the amazing plugin. I’ve been looking for a solution like this for quite a while, mainly to prevent my end users from having to use a – for them – confusing back end. But the problem is, it doesn’t seem to be very cross-browser compatible, and while I could of course tell my end users to download a specific browser, it’d be much nicer if the plugin would just work in all main browsers.

    I’m not sure if this is a known issue or not but the front end editor does not seem to be working at all in IE9. “Edit” simply doesn’t show. I personally don’t have problems with it not working in IE9 but if I’m planning on having my end users use this plugin, it really should be working in IE… (I haven’t tested IE8 or IE7).

    Also, in FF, “Edit” does not show for editable images, making it impossible to edit them through the front end. However, “Edit” does show for other fields.

    It seems to be working fine in Chrome (my main browser).

    I really hope something will be done about these issues seeing as this is probably the ultimate front end editor around; in functionality, it is perfect. Now all it needs is cross-browser compatibility, which would make it actually usable to those who barely even know what a browser is (because, really, they’re the ones who neeeed the front end editor).

    Thanks for the detailed bug report.

    I know about the problem with images in FF, but don’t have a good solution for it yet.

    As for IE9, I’ll try to do some testing.

    Please try out the development version (2.1.1-alpha).

    The image problem in FF should be fixed.

    I’ve also tested it in IE9 and works without a hitch. If you’re still having problems, pasting any JavaScript errors that you get would be really useful:

    I installed the development version (2.1.1-alpha). The image problem in FF remained, sadly enough.

    Firebug doesn’t show any JavaScript errors, however it does show 2 warnings:

    com.gentics.aloha.PluginRegistry: Could not determine actual language, no languages available for plugin org.fee.plugins.wpSaveCancel

    Not sure if that’s got anything to do with anything though. For the record: I’m using Firefox 4.0 on Windows.

    In IE9 I’m getting the same issue as in FF. It works, but not for images. Same warnings, too.

    Yes, I received the email, but I seem to have the ‘subscriber’ role, and therefore I can’t edit anything, neither on the backend or on the frontend.

    Ok, well the only issue I could find is that the left border doesn’t stretch over the entire image height, but the edit button still appears and is perfectly clickable:

    Yeah, I only get that in Chrome… not a major issue or anything.

    I guess I’ll see if I can record something. This is really odd.

    Update: it IS working in IE9 now. I must’ve messed up somewhere. Caching related problem maybe? I don’t know, but it’s absolutely fine in IE9 now.

    The FF image problem is still here though.

    I’ve also checked IE8 & IE7 now:
    -> IE8 has the same image problem as FF (works, but not with images)
    -> in IE7, the “Edit” doesn’t seem to come up anywhere. I get the following error: linkie

    No biggie to me as I don’t really mind telling my users to upgrade to IE9, but I thought maybe you’d like to know.

    Anyway, thanks a load for helping me out and just do with this information whatever seems best to you. Great plugin, great support!
