• Dear All,

Everytime I use ‘Add New Media’ inside WordPress to upload a media file, the file gets uploaded to https://www.mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/file.html

Every file uploaded seems to follow such a path with a wp-content/uploads/year/month/file format.

However, is there anyway to change this so I can upload media to different folders?

I know you can do ‘Settings’ – ‘Media’ and then add your own folder in ‘Store uploads in this folder’ the text box.

However, doing this also changes the path of all the files I uploaded previously to the new path.

Can I upload different media to folders of my choice inside WordPress?

It’s just that I have some e-learning material created using Articulate and when I upload the presentations to WordPress using ‘Add New Media’, it just uploads to the same folder and I have problems viewing the presentation, because the presentations have the same name.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Best wishes,

    mrinspire

  • I am not aware of any easy way to do this.

Why do your presentations all have the same name? Why not give them different names?

Hi Jargonbust – I can rename the folder in server, but this change in name does not reflect in the File URL inside WordPress stays the same. I really need to upload the file through WordPress so that I can protect the media using Wishlist Member. I’m creating a membership site.

Hi Curtiss – With a typical Articulate Presenter Presentation 3 things are created – a folder called ‘Player’, and Folder called ‘Data’ (both of these contain lots of other files) and a player.html file.

Now I can change the name of player.html before using ‘Add New Media’ to upload it (to something such as player5.html). However, this file still needs to call the ‘Player’ folder and ‘Data’ folder, so I never see a new presentation that I’ve uploaded. It’s always the first one. I’ve tried changing the names of the ‘Player’ folder and ‘Data’ folder but this still doesn’t fix it.

Do you have any idea how I can sort this please?

If anyone else can also help, then please do share your thoughts.

    Best wishes,

    mrinspire.

Since I’ve never used Articulate before, I can’t really comment on what might be safe to rename/remove and what might not. If Articulate does not have an option anywhere to package your presentation in a single FLV file, or to at least give you the option of using a unique package name; I would honestly recommend looking for a different software package to do the conversion.

You could try using FTP to put the files in their own directories if you want.
