Comment Count Gone

Is there any way that when I close a contest down that you can still see the comment count at the top in the meta info? Because a lot of sponsors would like to see what it ended out without having to go through hundreds.. if not thousands of comments to get to the end.. or have to email me than I have to go around looking for it when they should just see it on the post…
