• Currently there are several pages on the site. I would like to change which page new posts get posted to. Unlike Pages, where I can set the Parent Page, I don’t see an option when creating a new Post which Page it should post to. Where would I specify this? Is it part of the theme? (I am not a developer by trade, so anything beyond the VERY BASIC modifications would probably be outside of my abilities)

The theme installed on this site was developed by an employee who is no longer around.

Thanks for any and all help.

Thanks! I’ve been reading about this, and it looks like WP is limiting users to adding new Posts to only one Page? Unless you mickey mouse it with some themes that allow the menus to be linked to categories?

    (sry for borrowing)

Is it easy to switch between what pages to add new posts to?

Lets say for example I wan the standard to be the main page. But I want some posts to do diredctly into certian categories?

Is this done by learning static pages?

edit* doesnt seem like it unless Im not understanding something which might be the case lol.

When you press “new posts” chosing what page you want it to appear on and having the main page as default but being able to change should be a normal feature I think.. Kinda like when you do a new post and pick what category it Also wants to be included it. should just be a extra buttong that Only choses the category and not the main page.

All pages are static, technically. You can use categories to sort your posts, but all those posts still show up only on one page.

For example, let’s say you have created two pages, one is HOME and the other is BLOG. You can set the HOME page to be the static page (Settings -> Reading) and set the BLOG page to be the page where all new posts get published.

Sweede, I agree. I’m very surprised we are limited to posting on only 1 page. Seems like it would be a fairly easy function to implement.

And my yt embs doesnt work when browing through a category without actually clicking on the name ??
Someone thought I should change a thing in categories.php but cant even find it.

sry for OT and yes I agree. Should be a simple solution.
I have a video blog, and I would love to have the option on the side to go to “image section” and have it look exactly the same, But only images instead of videos. Sounds very simple but apparently its not.

Mickey mouse it? Do you perhaps mean build custom queries?

“Mickey Mouse” is a just slang expression for something done in a cheap, amateur kind of way. Usually refers to some work-around to solve a problem.

I know what it implies. A custom query is not an amateur workaround. It the way that WordPress is supposed to work.

The only other solution I’ve found on these forums was to make the menu items link to specific categories. That sounds like a mickey mouse job to me. I don’t know what you mean by building custom queries, so if that’s another solution that is viable, by all means do explain how it works. Thanks!

To be honest, that’s a bit too advanced for me (I stated in my first post that I am not a developer, just a very basic user). But hopefully it will help someone who is interested in utilizing this method.
