I have a ms network that is moving from shared hosting with cPanel to shared hosting. But now I have a WHM account and this domain is the primary account in WHM. When I try to navigate to the domain. I get a redirect loop. The browser is trying to go to mydomain.com/wp-signup.php?new=mydomain.com. I am able to navigate to any of the subdomain.mydomain.com sites easily. I’ve been searching all over and I’m unable to come up with the answer!

What happens if you go to https://www.mydomain.com?

    Exact same result unfortunately.

It sounds like a DNS error, honestly, but that’s weird since the subdomains are okay. Can you check https://www.whatsmydns.net/ and see if the DNS for the main domain is the same as the subs?

Thanks for your help! They all match though.

oops! I had edited my hosts file on my Windows computer to point me to the new server, but I hadn’t edited for each subdomain. So I was being sent to the correct IP for the main domain (which resulted in the redirect loop), but for subdomains I was being sent to the current site that is working already!

So, at the new server nothing is working…

WHM is actually a higher-level management tool than cpanel, so basically for managing a reseller account or vps. Each domain in there also has its own cpanel account.

So… at the new server, what’s not working, exaclty? Cuz that’s not much to go on. ?? Also, you may need to ask your new host what’s up.

If nothing’s working I’d put money on the httpd.conf not being set up right!

I figured out the problem. It was so simple! I had backed up my database using cPanel, then I restored the database using cPanel’s backup restore function. Don’t ever trust cPanel’s backup!!!! My database only had 36 tables in it! There should have been over 300. I exported the database through phpMyAdmin and imported it. Now everything works!!!
