• Hey there everyone! I am going to be installing bbPress to my WordPress blog but just have a few questions before jumping into anything straight away. I’ll list them so it makes it simpler and easier for you guys to answer and avoids any and all confusion.

    1. Do you recommend that bbPress is installed in the same directory/folder as my WordPress blog? Please explain why (advantages/disadvantages, if any).

    2. In order to integrate it to my blog, will my current theme (K2) work with bbPress (take a look at my blog if you don’t know what K2 is)?

    3. On this page, listed under the title ‘Functions (optional)’, do you recommend that I do it or no? Again, advantages and/or disadvantages please.

That’s all the questions I’ve got at the moment. Hoping to get answers as soon as possible to get my forum set up. Also, I’ve posted this topic on the bbPress forum but haven’t received any replies in a couple of days so thought I’d post it here for maximum support. Thanks guys!

I would actually suggest trying out the plugin, which is nearly ready for public consumption.

So there is no way of doing it unless I use that plugin Ipstenu?

Oh, no, you could do it with the existing bbpress.org app.

If you did that I’d put it in the same folder as WP, you’ll have to integrate your theme manually, and you only need to pull in the WP functions if you plan on using WP specific calls in your bbPress install.

But the plugin would be easier, IMO. That’s all. ??

If I was to use the plugin, would I install the forum in a subdirectory or in the same directory as my WordPress blog installation is located?

If you were to use the plugin, you’d install it like a plugin (you know in the wp-content/plugins folder, activate it, etc etc).

Awesome, thank you very much Ipstenu. Much appreciated.

One final question before I have pretty much got everything resolved; is there a theme for bbPress that’s the same as this WordPress Forum theme? I like it a lot better then many I’ve seen… Any recommendations on themes you know are more then welcome also.

There is, but I can’t remember where I saw it :/ You may want to search the bbpress.org forums for it.

No problem at all. Thanks once again Ipstenu. Hopefully I’ll be able to find it easy enough.
