Can't get custom template to work as blog

    I duplicated my index.php page and named it a ‘Blog’ template. In WP Admin, I have a static page set as home page and chose another page ‘news’ as my blog page. For the news page a seleted ‘Blog’ as the template. YET, WP keeps using the index page for my blog – I can’t seem to figure out what’s going on. Every other page that I use custom templates on work fine – just not the blog page.
