Forced comment moderation

    I work at a university where we are providing blogging & micro sites via WordPress multi-sites. Our accounts are auto provisioned and those who sign up for a blog/site are assigned as the default site admin/owner.

    Is there any way to force site owners to moderate their comments? We need to remove the ability for site owners to modify the discussion setting An administrator must always approve the comment. The university is a concerned that comments could show up without being monitored.

    I was directed to check out the following, which looks great if it could be unchangeable on the site admin level, but rather the network admin level.

    (sometimes I feel like I just pop up behind a different counter wearing a different hat)

    I can’t remember if there’s a hook on that page or not, but a quickie plugin tossed in the mu-plugins folder could block access.

    and I just remembered this:

    you can shut off the menu for that whole screen.

    LOL! Nice to see you again Andrea. The second link looks exactly what I’m after but I have sorta-of-a newbie question. On my multi site install (I didn’t install MU but WordPress 3.12 then enabled multi site) I don’t seem to have a “mu-plugins” directory under wp-content. Should I? I created on and tried to enable as the instructions talk about but I wasn’t able to.

    Any suggestions?

    You don’t have to enable plugins in the mu-plugins folder. They auto-load.

    1. Upload ds_wp3_menus.php to the /wp-content/mu-plugins/ directory
    2. Set multisite “Menu Settings” option at SuperAdmin->Options page

    So do you not have the network -> Options page?

    On my Network Admin page I have the following options on the left navigation:

    Dashboard | Sites | Users | Themes | Plugins | Settings | Updates

    So I should see an Options link on the Network Admin page?
