2nd blog only shows the homepage

    Sorry for the poor title!

    I have WP 3.1.1 multisite running a small network (2 blogs) and the following happens to the 2nd blog:
    – After the site completion I started getting 404s on 2 specific pages. They are unrelated, have nothing in common that tell them apart from the others but regularly I would come to the site and find out that they were displaying a 404 error.
    Upon much fussing I ended up disabling W3 Total Cache on this blog (kept it running on the main blog) and the issue was gone, soon after being replaced by the following.
    – With no specific interval between events, the 2nd blog will regularly start displaying the home page only. You click on any link, the url on the browser changes but the home page is displayed every time. Going to the permalinks admin page and submitting the form again fixes the issue (till it happens again).

    Any idea what might be wrong?

    Could be W3TC still, if it’s not configured right on the main site.

    Then yeah, turn off caching for the main site as well. It’s possible you have w3tc set up wrong (and it’s really easy to do that).

    I mean turn off the plugin, disable it, and see if that corrects the issue.

    If so, then most likely is that you configured w3tc incorrectly. I hesitate to say it’s ‘broken’ since I know a lot of people who use it for subfolders, and I also know how EASY it is to set it so it caches subfolder sites accidentally. I suppose you could also tell the main site NOT to cache anything starting with /nameofsubsite* but…

    Also I’m tagging this so the plugin author can see it.

    Thanks Ipstenu! I’ll wait for the dev to chime in, as I would rather like to activate cache again on the second blog!
